STUDENT COUNCIL

The WHS Student Council is an organization that represents the entire student body and promotes school spirit and student participation in school and community affairs. The Student Council encourages scholarship, builds the values of citizenship and leadership, and expresses the desires of the student body to the staff of the school. To be a member, students should join during the membership drive held every year and attend the regularly scheduled meetings after school every other Wednesday. Members are asked to attend meetings and to participate in two Student Council events and a fundraiser each trimester to keep their membership active. All class officers and representatives must remain active members of the Student Council in good standing.

Student Council annually organizes the New Student Welcome Dinner, all Homecoming activities including; Spirit Week, Pep Rally, Fish Fry, Parade, Court, and Dance, fundraisers for Riley Children’s Hospital, and Teacher Appreciation Week. In addition, our club often works with other school groups and charitable organizations to help the school and local community with food drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas and providing scholarship funds, All students are invited to get involved.
